Gena is a waitress, bartender, and sometimes cook at her husband Elmo’s diner, appropriately named Elmo’s Diner. She has lived and learned and has been in Threhan almost her whole life. She’s Pilot’s new best friend and like an older sister or mother figure to many.

Gena is always dishing out advice to Pilot, whether she wants to hear it or not, be it good or bad. On rare occasions she will go as far as to meddle in her customers’ affairs. For example, when Pong first steps foot in her diner, she believes that he is the match that Pilot is looking for, plus she thinks they look adorable together. At times she tries to play matchmaker. She’s willing to introduce Pilot to other people, but she doesn’t expect anything to happen between her and those other guys.

Gena has already found her “match“, her husband Elmo, the diner’s owner and main cook. Usually they will dress as matching foodstuffs, and Elmo will affectionately refer to Gena by food names such as “honey pot“ or “sugar pie“. In spite of their age difference, they are very happy together. The two of them raise Gena’s younger brother, Grady, almost as if he was their son. Actually, Gena’s been looking after Grady since he was in diapers. She is more like a mother to him while Elmo is more like a step-father who hasn’t quite bonded. Grady also works at the diner as a waiter and bus boy when they need him, and the rest of the time he’s just there to hang out.

Some regulars in the diner include Pilot, Pong, and Darcee: Pilot at the bar talking with Gena about something or other, Pong sitting a few seats down from Pilot, and Darcee in a booth by the window. Gena will occasionally speak to Darcee, often times not getting an answer. Other customers are advised to let him be. Of course Pilot initially ignored these warnings and imposed herself on him anyway, and now she’s the only person welcome in his private booth. Gena is more of an adult authority figure to Pong who is away from home and his parents for the first time in his life, much like she is a mom to Grady. Likewise, Grady and Pong get along well together as kids would. Elmo tends to stay in the back, either cooking or doing paperwork, and doesn’t associate with customers as much. His mood fluctuates between perky and optimistic (sometimes faked) to irritated and angry. Chef Leon also works at Elmo’s temporarily after losing his job at a five star restaurant. After he is rehired, he continues to visit Elmo’s, not so much for the food but for the company.

*Bonus Fact: I wanted a fox character to work or often dine in the diner. This character spun off both Darcee and Grady. Grady is supposed to be dressed as a fox, even though he only sports pointy ears and is wearing purple to match Gena.
